The National Testing Agency will be releasing the JEE Main cut-off marks along with the results of the May session. The cut-off marks will determine which candidates will be able to qualify for JEE Advanced. NTA will be releasing a cumulative JEE Main cut-off list for all the four sessions.
JEE Advanced 2021 New Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who successfully pass the JEE Main exam and secure a position among the top 2,50,000 candidates, will be eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2021. Also, the 75% eligibility criteria have been scrapped according to the recent announcement made by the Education Minister – Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” The exam conducting authority is responsible for furnishing the JEE Advanced 2021 Eligibility Criteria. Eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2021 for various undergraduate programmes is given below. All candidates will have to fulfil the following criteria to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 exam.
Category Wise Percentage of Candidates to be Shortlisted for JEE Advanced 2021
The percentage of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted for JEE Advanced 2021 is as follows –

JEE Advanced Age Criteria
The age criteria for JEE Advanced 2021 is as follows –
- Open category candidates whose date of birth is on or after 1st Oct. 1996, will be eligible to appear for the examination.
- For the Reserved category, candidates have been exempted by 5 years i.e., Scheduled Tribe (ST) Scheduled Caste (SC) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD). These candidates have to be born on or after 1st October 1991.
JEE Advanced 2021 Rule on Number of Attempts
- Candidates get 2 attempts for JEE Advanced exam.
- Candidates who appeared for the first time in JEE Advanced 2020 exam will also be eligible to take JEE Advanced 2021.
Additional Details Regarding JEE Advanced Eligibility 2021
Appearance in Class 12th Exam or Equivalent Examination Criteria for JEE Advanced 2021:
- A candidate should have appeared for the first time in class 12 exam or equivalent examination either in 2020 or 2021.
- Candidates will also be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced 2021 if their Class 12 result or equivalent examination board result is announced after June 2021.
Previous Admission at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs):
- The candidate will not get admission if he/she had been admitted in any IIT regardless of whether he/she continued in the course or not.
- Candidate should not have accepted any of the IIT seats by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.
- A candidate whose admission was cancelled by IIT in the past will not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2021.
Examination Equivalent to Class 12th Examination for JEE Advanced 2021
- General Certificate Education (GCE)
- Central/ State Board
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- Certificate from Association of Indian (AIU)
- National Defence Academy (NDA)
- Diploma from the State Board of Technical Education
- Higher Secondary Vocational Examination
