IIT MADRAS RETAINS THE TOP SPOT IN OVERALL CATEGORY, JNU EMERGES AS BEST VARSITY, GET COMPLETE LIST HERE

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced NIRF Indian Rankings for Indian institutes today. The ranks which were scheduled to be announced in April were delayed due to Covid-19 crisis.

New Delhi: Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced NIRF Indian Rankings for Indian institutes today. The ranks which were scheduled to be announced in April were delayed due to Covid-19 crisis. IITs have again scored big in the list with IIT Madras emerging as the best in overall category. IIT Madras has also emerged as the top institute in engineering category, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay at second and third ranks.

IISc Bengaluru has maintained its status as one of the best institutes in the country and has been ranked at second place in the overall ranking. It has also been adjudged as the best university in the country followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University at the second place again. Banaras Hindu University has taken the third spot on top universities list.

Among colleges, top three spots have been taken over by Delhi University colleges. Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College, and Hindu College have been ranked first, second, and third among colleges respectively.

In the pharmacy college category, Delhi’s Jamia Hamdard was ranked on top followed by Panjab University, Chandigarh. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, Mohali got the third rank.

How were universities ranked?

Launched in 2015, the first NIRF rankings were released in 2016. The rankings are decided on parameters such as teaching, research output, outreach and several others.

The education institutes and universities all over India are ranked across several parameters including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcome outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

How much did top institute scored?

IIT Madras has scored 83.88 out of 100 to be ranked as the best institute. It has surpassed its own highest score of 85.31 from last year. IIT-Madras has got the highest score in perception with 96.16 followed by research with 90.67
